Australian Mapping Community/Past Events/New Farm Mapping Party October 2008
The first Brisbane Mapping Marathon was conducted in New Farm and was attended by Thomas, Konstanze, Hoylen, Hugh and David. Everybody had a fairly good time (as far as I know) and I think we got rid of most of the no-name streets in the target area, plus the addition of some useful POIs as well. We'll have to wait and see after everybody has finished their editing. We even took a dorky photo.

Old Details
Feeling inspired by the London Mapping Party Marathons, I thought it might be fun to set up a little Mapping Party Marathon in Brisbane.
So here's the first try at a short evening Mapping Marathon covering New Farm in Brisbane, Australia. If this goes well, we may be able to make these a regular event (say monthly?)
We will meet up somewhere around 18:00 to starting mapping the New Farm area (get missing street names, adding pois, etc), then we will retire to a suitable pub/restaurant/cafe at 20:00 to chat about OSM over drinks/food/coffee.
If you can't or couldn't be bothered mapping or just want to be social you can turn up around 20:00 to chat with fellow Brisbane geophiles. Of course, if you can't map but want to try I'm sure you will find someone happy to show you the ropes.
When : Wednesday 8th October 2008 - Mapping starts at 18:00, Drinks/Food/Coffee start around 19:30-20:00.
Where: New Farm, Brisbane ([1])
Getting there
New Farm is reasonable well served by Busses and Citycat ferries. Use TransInfo[2] to plan your journey. Drivers should be able to find street parking on a Wednesday evening without too much difficulty. Parking is probably also available in New Farm Park, but the gates may close early in the evening and lock you in (or they may stay open - I'm not sure).
Meetup at
18:00 - 18:15 Rotunda, New Farm Park ([3])
The pub/restaurant/cafe
19:30 - 21:30 Arriva Italian Restaurant, Shop 6, 84 Merthyr Rd, New Farm. Phone: (07) 3254 1599.
Hoewever, Arriva was booked out so we went to Mehfil Indian Restaurant on Brunswick Street instead. - DavidDean 12:12, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
