Proposal

This proposal aims a getting a good definition for a generic locker. The proposed tag amenity=locker is already in use, as is the more specific amenity=luggage_locker, but both are currently without a wiki definition.

Rationale

You can find lockers in many places, from airports and train stations to public libraries and museums, at universities and in schools, in companies and sport facilities, or any other place, and they provide a useful service for travellers and others.

Tagging

Add amenity=locker for a generic locker.

Kind of locker

To indicate a more specific kind of locker, add the key locker=* (can also be used as a property for features to describe that there are lockers):

• locker=food - a locker intended to hold food
• locker=handbag - a locker for small luggage/valuables
• locker=luggage - a locker for generic luggage/suitcases
• locker=wardrobe - a tall locker where you can hang a coat
• locker=bicycle - a locker specifically for bicycles
• locker=phone - a specific locker for cellphones, eventually allowing charging
• locker=yes - there are lockers at a feature (property of the feature)

• capacity=* for the number of lockers represented by the object (this might eventually be refined into size classes)

Features/Pages affected

There are a few lockers tagged as amenity=vending_machine which contradicts the definition of vending machines ("dispensing items for payment"). Those lockers should ideally be retagged by local mappers.
