Hello :)

I've been on OSM on-and-off since 2013. I like automation, outdoor mapping, and keeping the Israel wiki page up to date. Occasionally I also do some HOT mapping and other forms of Armchair mapping.

I mostly survey objects that help people find things when they walk/hike/cycle/commute, such as streets, pathways, shops, amenities, drinking water, rest rooms, benches, and viewpoints. I rarely map other things such as electric poles, landuses, trees, and so on.

Feel free to contact me via an OSM private message or via this Wiki's talk page. Sometimes I disappear for many months and then re-appear. But I do answer, eventually.

Scripts

I used to operate automated bulk edit scripts in Israel from 2017 until 2021. See User:SafwatHalaby/scripts.

All of them are inactive, but as of 2025, gtfs2osm is active in Israel. It's an independent project developed by NeatNit, and is a recreation of the GTFS bus stop import script.

Secondary accounts

• I briefly uploaded QA-related changesets to SafwatHalaby_repair, and not to my main account. But I no longer do that.
• I used to run scripts through the user SafwatHalaby_bot but now I use the main account.
• Previously, my username was SwiftFast (Also SwiftFast_bot, SwiftFast_repair)
