Projects and activities

Project Year Description
Water Infrastracture Mapping in Uganda 2021-2022 Mapping water infrastructure data in OpenStreetMap, an approach to increase the frequency and update the data collected on water points into the Water Point Data Exchange platform(WPDx). The main goal is to demonstrate the potential of crowdsourcing water point data for improved decision making.
Drone Training 24th March 2024 The CSGU Mappers, in collaboration with OpenStreetMap Uganda, organized an intensive drone training session on March 24th, 2024, at the GIS Lab, Faculty of Science, with the participation of 45 enthusiastic students. The morning session focused on the theoretical foundations of drone technology, including its applications in geospatial mapping, data collection, and analysis. In the afternoon, participants gained hands-on experience by flying drones at the university playground, practically applying their newly acquired knowledgecal setting. This comprehensive training bridged theory and practice, fostering capacity building and empowering students to leverage drone technology for innovative solutions in mapping and environmental monitoring.Drone mapping gallery
