State of the Map Asia (SotM Asia) 2024 and State of the Map Bangladesh (SotM BD) 2024 are delighted to invite submissions for our annual conference! This year’s hybrid event will take place in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, offering both in-person and virtual participation options.

SotM Asia and SotM Bangladesh provide a unique opportunity to share your knowledge, experiences, and ideas with a diverse community of open geospatial, open mapping, open data, and especially OpenStreetMap contributors across Asia. Held in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, the conference will feature a welcoming environment for diverse sessions, discussions, and lightning talks. The following topic areas will be given preference for the submission. If you are confused about categorizing your topic, then try to match it with the nearest one which will be sorted later.

Submission Topic

Submissions are encouraged in the following preferred topic areas evolving around open geospatial, open data, open mapping, and OpenStreetMap:

  • GIS & Cartography / Visualization / Analysis/Information Management
  • Data creation / Data Privacy /Data Protection/Data Science
  • Humanitarian / Environment / Citizen Science
  • Education / Documentation
  • Local community / Diversity
  • Transportation / Logistics/ Urban Planning
  • Governance / Public Policy
  • Frontier Technology (UAV, IoT, ML, AI) driven Data/ Mapping

Session Type

Several types of proposals shall be given preference based on their session time. Session time has been categorized as follows:

  • Lightning talk (5 minutes)
  • Talk (15 minutes)
  • Extended Talk (30 minutes)
  • Workshop (60-90 minutes)
  • Panel Discussion/ Round Table (45-60 minutes)

Language

English and Bengali will be the official languages of the conference. Each language will have its track to ensure comprehensive interaction between speakers and attendees.

Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts should be submitted in English or Bengali and be 250-300 words. Clearly state the topic, methodology (if applicable), key findings, and relevance to the open geospatial/ Open mapping/ OpenStreetMap. Submissions should showcase innovative approaches, address regional challenges, or promote collaboration across borders.

Selection Process:

Abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of experts based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the SotM Asia and SotM Bangladesh themes
  • Originality and innovation
  • Clarity and conciseness
  • Potential for engaging the audience

Scholarships:

State of the Map Asia and State of the Map Bangladesh is a non-commercial event driven by the community, where no organizers, participants or speakers are reimbursed for their roles in the event. Though several scholarships are provided to those who face difficulty in attending the event but come up with excellent activities. Our call for the scholarship can be found in the given link below who wish to apply for funding to attend the programs.

স্টেট অফ দ্যা ম্যাপ এশিয়া (এসওটিএম এশিয়া) ২০২৪ এবং স্টেট অফ দ্যা ম্যাপ বাংলাদেশ (এসওটিএম বিডি) ২০২৪ আয়োজনে আপনাদের অংশগ্রহণের জন্য আন্তরিক আমন্ত্রণ জানাচ্ছি। এবারের সম্মেলনটি হাইব্রিড পদ্ধতিতে বাংলাদেশের কক্সবাজারে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে, যেখানে সরাসরি উপস্থিতি এবং অনলাইন উভয় মাধ্যমেই অংশগ্রহণের সুযোগ থাকবে। এশিয়ার বিভিন্ন অঞ্চল থেকে আগত ওপেনস্ট্রীটম্যাপে অবদানকারীদের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত এই অনুষ্ঠানে আপনার জ্ঞান, অভিজ্ঞতা এবং নতুন ধারণা শেয়ার করার এক অনন্য সুযোগ রয়েছে। কক্সবাজারের আন্তরিক পরিবেশে বিভিন্ন ধরনের সেশন, আলোচনা এবং সংক্ষিপ্ত উপস্থাপনার (লাইটনিং টক) আয়োজন করা হবে। নিম্নলিখিত বিষয়গুলোতে অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়া হবে। বিষয় শ্রেণীবিন্যাসে কোনো সমস্যা হলে, সবচেয়ে নিকটতম বিভাগে সাবমিট করুন, পরবর্তীতে তা সাজানো হবে।

প্রস্তাবিত বিষয়বস্তু

নিম্নলিখিত বিষয়গুলোতে প্রস্তাবনা জমা দেওয়ার জন্য উৎসাহিত করা হয়:

  • কার্টোগ্রাফি / ভিজ্যুয়ালাইজেশন / বিশ্লেষণ
  • ডাটা তৈরি / ডাটা গোপনীয়তা / ডাটা সুরক্ষা
  • মানবতাবাদী / পরিবেশ / নাগরিক বিজ্ঞান
  • শিক্ষা / তথ্যপত্র
  • স্থানীয় সম্প্রদায় / বৈচিত্র্য
  • পরিবহন / পরিকল্পনা
  • শাসন ব্যবস্থা / গণনীতি / ডাটা সুরক্ষা

সেশন ধরন

সেশনের সময়কালের ভিত্তিতে বিভিন্ন ধরনের প্রস্তাবনাকে অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়া হবে। সেশনের সময়কাল নিম্নরূপ শ্রেণীবদ্ধ করা হয়েছে:

  • লাইটনিং টক (৫ মিনিট)
  • প্রবন্ধ উপস্থাপনা (১৫ মিনিট)
  • বিস্তারিত প্রবন্ধ উপস্থাপনা (৩০ মিনিট)
  • ওয়ার্কশপ (৬০-৯০ মিনিট)
  • প্যানেল আলোচনা (৪৫-৬০ মিনিট)

ভাষা

সম্মেলনের দুটি দাপ্তরিক ভাষা হলো ইংরেজি এবং বাংলা। বক্তা ও অংশগ্রহণকারীদের মধ্যে সুষ্ঠু যোগাযোগ নিশ্চিত করার জন্য প্রতিটি ভাষার জন্য পৃথক ট্র্যাক থাকবে।


জমা দেওয়ার নির্দেশিকা:

Abstract ইংরেজি অথবা বাংলা ভাষায় ২৫০-৩০০ শব্দের মধ্যে জমা দিতে হবে। বিষয়বস্তু, পদ্ধতিবিধান (যদি প্রযোজ্য হয়), প্রধান ফলাফল এবং OpenStreetMap সম্প্রদায়ের সাথে প্রাসঙ্গিকতা স্পষ্টভাবে উল্লেখ করতে হবে। জমা দেওয়া বিষয়বস্তুতে উদ্ভাবনী পন্থা, আঞ্চলিক চ্যালেঞ্জ সমাধান বা সীমানা পেরিয়ে সহযোগিতা প্রচারের দিকটি তুলে ধরতে হবে।

নির্বাচন প্রক্রিয়া: একদল OpenStreetMap বিশেষজ্ঞ নিম্নলিখিত মানদণ্ডের ভিত্তিতে Abstract গুলো পর্যালোচনা করবেন:

  • SotM এশিয়া এবং SotM বাংলাদেশের থিমের সাথে প্রাসঙ্গিকতা
  • মৌলিকতা এবং উদ্ভাবনী চিন্তা
  • স্পষ্টতা এবং সংক্ষিপ্ততা
  • শ্রোতাদের আগ্রহ জাগানোর সম্ভাবনা


উপস্থাপনার সুবিধা

  • বিশেষজ্ঞতা শেয়ার করুন: OpenStreetMap-এর বিশ্বব্যাপী উৎসাহীদের সামনে আপনার বিশেষজ্ঞতা প্রদর্শনের সুযোগ পাবেন।
  • মূল্যবান প্রতিক্রিয়া পান: অভিজ্ঞ মানচিত্রকার ও ডেভেলপারদের কাছ থেকে আপনার কাজের বিস্তারিত পর্যালোচনা ও মূল্যবান প্রতিক্রিয়া লাভ করুন।
  • নেটওয়ার্কিং করুন: অন্যান্য অংশগ্রহণকারীদের সাথে যোগাযোগ গড়ে তুলে OpenStreetMap সম্প্রদায়ে আপনার নেটওয়ার্ক বৃদ্ধি করুন।

স্কলারশিপ

State of the Map এশিয়া ও State of the Map বাংলাদেশ একটি সম্পূর্ণ সম্প্রদায়-চালিত অলাভজনক ইভেন্ট। এতে কোনও আয়োজক, অংশগ্রহণকারী বা বক্তাকে তাদের ভূমিকার জন্য অর্থ প্রদান করা হয় না। তবে, যারা ইভেন্টে অংশগ্রহণে সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হচ্ছেন কিন্তু দুর্দান্ত কার্যকলাপ নিয়ে আসতে পারেন তাদের জন্য বেশ কয়েকটি বৃত্তি প্রদান করা হয়। স্কলারশিপের জন্য আবেদন করতে চাইলে নিচের লিঙ্কে দেওয়া আমাদের কল ফর স্কলারশিপ দেখুন।
