Category talk:Tagging Mistakes

Where was the discussion that decided shop=insurance is a synonym for office=insurance, or shop=grocery is a synonym for shop=convenience? Etc. --Peter Reed (talk) 18:50, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

The idea is not to replace tags 1:1 (I even made a additional note on the shop=convenience page). It's to show mappers hey look at these tags, maybe these established tags fit better. As for shop=insurance/grocery both are undocumented lower usage tags compare to the others. If you think they are usefull then please document them and point out the difference to the more established tags. What also often happened is that people used amenity/shop= more freely in the past, because club/craft/office=* were not yet established. --AndiG88 (talk) 20:22, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Misleading category name

The name of this category is misleading. Someone might think that the pages listed here (elements of this category) are tagging errors. Maybe it would be better to change the name to, for example, "Pages with template possible synonyms" or another name. maro21 19:30, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
