Hi Brian,
I'm the GIS Program Manager, please use our data.
For years the District of Columbia has provided public access to city data through the Internet. The District of Columbia’s Geographic Information Program (DC GIS) is utilizing technology to increase public access to the vast amount of information it creates and received from our agency partners. In doing so, we hope residents, businesses and other government organizations can make more informed decisions about their government and our community. We are striving to making DC GIS's data more discoverable, explorable and accessible.
The District of Columbia Government has no objections to geodata derived in part from DC GIS Open Data OpenData.dc.gov being incorporated into the OpenStreetMap project geodata database and released under a free and open license. Specifically this includes GIS building and address data.
Please let us know if you need something more formal.
Regards,
Tim Abdella, GISP
