Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania uses colored detour routes to denote detours from freeways for use in inclement weather, traffic accident, or other road closure. D14-101 signs are used at exit gores on freeways, while D14-102 trailblazers are used on the detour route[1]. Colors commonly used are black, blue, green, orange, and red. Purple has been used as a temporary detour route color when the main detour is closed due to road construction.
Colors repeat, so it is important to tag which freeway and which segments of the freeway it is bypassing between exits. Example tagging for the orange detour on I-79 between Exits 121 and 130[2]:
detour=I 79 (use the ref tag of the freeway the detour is for)
name=Orange Detour (I 79 Exits 121-130) (Include the colored detour. Within the parenthesis, use the ref tag of the freeway that the detour is for. Also include the section of the freeway that the detour is bypassing.)
