The Contemporary Resort first of nineteen of the Disney owned hotels and resorts on Walt Disney World Resort property. The Contemporary opened on October 1, 1971 and sits between Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake and steps a-way or Monorail stop after Magic Kingdom park. The Contemporary is divided into two sections: The original hotel and Bay Lake Tower. Bay Lake Tower is apart of Disney Vacation Club. The original A shaped hotel was built under a new technique of Modula Building. Each room was built off-site and was brought to the hotel on flatbed truck and craned into place ready to be opened. The hotel is also a stop on the Walt Disney World Monorail System's resort line. Another interesting feature are the extremely large murals that over look the Grand Canyon Concourse by Disney artist Mary Blair in the center of the Hotel and on the murals is a five legged goat because Blair believed that 'that nothing is perfect excepted what God has created'.
