August 17, 2023 regular meeting of the OpenStreetMap United States Board of Directors

Call to Order

Diane called the meeting to order at 2:00pm, Eastern, via video conference.

Present:

• Maggie Cawley (Executive Director)
• Diane Fritz (President)
• Brian Sperlongano (Vice President)
• Adam Franco (Treasurer)
• Matthew Whilden (Secretary)

Reports

• The Executive Director (ED) provided an update to the board on OSM US’s activities over the prior month.
  • OSMUS membership costs
    • Maggie discussed combine membership registration with OSMF
    • Discussed potential for different tiering (students etc)
    • Neon now supports monthly installment payments
  • Fundraising
    • OSMCha received a grant from Meta
    • Microsoft will be a Platinum sponsor for 2024 SOTMUS
    • Trails Stewardship fund being created. Working with allTrails
    • Reworking funding brochure to increase clarity.
  • We now have a new accountant, reviewing books, do taxes etc
  • Upcoming “Lunch and learn” brown bag - Nov 9, 12:00 ET?
  • Member townhall - October 11 8pm
    • Will announce SOTMUS Save the date - June 6-9 2023
  • PD Map pilot is now complete
    • Jess writing up summary to be posted on blog
    • Reviewer model being reevaluated
    • FRA wants to roll out broadly
  • Trail Stewardship group as model for Public/Private/Non-profit

Old Business

• Slack usage: The staff reviewed Slack usage and found normal usage patterns consistent with OSM community usage.

New Business

• The board approved the timeline for the next board election.
• The board approved changing the Slack title to include OSM US’s name and logo with no change in usage policy.
