How to map
Use the tag on a node . The node should be shared between the highway and railway.
- railway=level_crossing obligatory
- crossing:barrier=* recommended
- crossing:light=* recommended
- crossing:bell=* recommended
- crossing:activation=* - the type of operation
- crossing:activation=automatic - by treadle or contacts detecting a train
- crossing:activation=local - locally operated by railway staff (e.g., train conductor)
- crossing:activation=remote - remotely operated by railway staff (e.g., signalman)

Where multiple detections are required to activate the crossing, they can be combined with a semicolon, e.g. crossing:activation=automatic;local
