What
In the state of Oklahoma:
- Find ways with NHD:FCode=46003 or NHD:FCode=39001 missing intermittent=*
- Set intermittent=yes on them
If committed to the OpenStreetMap database, the end result will be:
- 59,399 ways modified due to being a waterway that needed intermittent
- 6,741 ways modified due to being a water body that needed intermittent
Why
From National Hydrography Dataset#Attributes to OSM tags, FCode 46003 is for intermittent streams and rivers, while 39001 is for intermittent lakes and ponds. When these objects where imported into OSM over a decade ago, the intermittent tag was never set on them properly.
How
The following Overpass turbo query (result size: >700 MB):
[out:json][timeout:1800][bbox:33.616646,-103.004057,37.0022,-94.432823]; (way["NHD:FCode"="46003"][!"intermittent"];way["NHD:FCode"="39001"][!"intermittent"];); (._;>;); out meta;
The changes are made in JOSM, while verifying all objects being modified are in fact already tagged as waterways and lakes.
