Ways

Used standards for tagging ways:

Inter-Town

Road type	Keys	Description	Example	Photo
A roads	highway=motorway oneway=yes lanes=... ref=... name=...	All freeways: divided highway (separate lanes) with limited access - i.e. on/off ramps. As of 2017, these are now being given the "A" prefix to their route numbers, and their destination signage is blue (all other road classes have green destination signage). Prior to 2017, they were still tagged as highway=motorway, but were signed as B roads.	A1 in Windhoek.
B roads	highway=trunk ref=B.. name=B...	Major (mostly paved) B roads connecting major cities. Although these are not really trunk roads, they are the major routes within Namibia and should already be rendered at low zoom levels.	B1, B6
C roads	highway=primary ref=C.. name=C... surface=...	Major routes connecting major and minor cities. Consider adding the surface tag to indicate paved (paved) or gravel (unpaved) roads/sections.	C26
D roads	highway=secondary ref=D... name=D... surface=...	Minor inter-town routes. Usually gravel. The surface tag should be added.	D1206

F roads (formerly "P roads")	highway=tertiary ref=F... name=F... surface=...	Minor roads, often crossing or connecting private property (i.e. farms). The surface tag should be added.	Fxxxx
Unclassified roads (e.g. on farms)	highway=service surface=...	Small service-like roads usually found on private property, connecting e.g. water holes and farm gates. The surface tag should be added.
other roads	e.g. highway=unclassified or highway=residential	Everything else (have a look at possible values for the highway tag).
roads in national parks	e.g. highway=track	unless an official road number exists or it is a major througroad (then: =unclassified)

In-Town

Other roads in towns / cities are "residential" (all other that are not B or major roads) and "minor" (within industrial areas).

Administrative Levels: Namibia

Tagging according to official status as of this link:

• Stadtgemeinde / Gemeinde = City (Municipality) -> boundary administrative = 3
• Stadt = Town -> boundary administrative = 4
• Dorf = Village -> boundary administrative = 5
• Siedlung = Hamlet -> boundary administrative = 6
• Ansiedlung = Isolated Dwelling (not a farm house; small settlements / private towns without an official status, e.g. Helmeringhausen) -> no boundary
