OSM Africa is a network of local OpenStreetMap communities from all over Africa with an intention of joining hands to share resources and collaborate to grow and produce a complete and well detailed map of Africa on OpenStreetMap in order to advance the quality, completeness and sustainability of geospatial data in Africa. Activation WG

Communications and Technical WG
This group is responsible with technical activities of the network and communications between the network and other partners. Communication tasks include managing social media, blog posts, and newsletter coordination of the networks. Local Chapters WG
This group is responsible with assisting new local chapters, recruiting local chapter organizations to become involved with OSM Africa, and assisting existing local chapters. Assistance to local chapters may include proposal writing, project implementation, fundraising, and supervision. Also helping local OSM Chapters become official OSMF Local Chapters.

Training WG
This group is responsible with providing trainings in OSM related tools and applications. This includes preparation of the training materials, documentation and prepare the tutorials of those trainings. Help local chapters set up Youth Mappers chapters in Universities in their countries.

Events
Global State of the Map
- The Global State of the Map 2024 happened in Nairobi- Kenya on 06-08 September 2024 November 2021.
- The Global State of the Map 2020 happened virtually in Cape Town-South Africa on 04-05 July 2020.
- The COVID-19 pandemic was declared by WHO on 11 March 2020, with global lock-down and travel bans, so the conference had to be changed to be venueless.
