Restrictions
The tags defined on this page will render in various nautical charts.
This page defines values for the "seamark:<object>:restriction" tags.
These restrictions specify the official legal statute of each kind of restriction for an area. Where more than one value applies, the tag value should be a semi-colon separated list.

Anchoring prohibited | no_anchoring | An area within which anchoring is not permitted. |
Anchoring restricted | restricted_anchoring | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which anchoring is restricted in accordance with certain specified conditions. |
Fishing prohibited | no_fishing | An area within which fishing is not permitted. |
Fishing restricted | restricted_fishing | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which fishing is restricted in accordance with certain specified conditions. |
Trawling prohibited | no_trawling | An area within which trawling is not permitted. |
Trawling restricted | restricted_trawling | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which trawling is restricted in accordance with certain specified conditions. |
Entry prohibited | no_entry | An area within which navigation and/or anchoring is prohibited. |
Entry restricted | restricted_entry | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which navigation is restricted in accordance with certain specified conditions. |
Dredging prohibited | no_dredging | An area within which dredging is not permitted. |
Dredging restricted | restricted_dredging | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which dredging is restricted in accordance with certain specified conditions. |
Diving prohibited | no_diving | An area within which diving is not permitted. |
Diving restricted | restricted_diving | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which diving is restricted in accordance with certain specified conditions. |
No wake | no_wake | Mariners must adjust the speed of their vessels to reduce the wave or wash which may cause erosion or disturb moored vessels. |
Area to be avoided | to_be_avoided | An IMO designated area to be avoided, defined as a routeing measure. |
Construction prohibited | no_construction | The erection of permanent or temporary fixed structures or artificial islands is prohibited. |
Discharging prohibited | no_discharging | An area within which discharging or dumping is prohibited |
Discharging restricted | restricted_discharging | A specified area designated by an appropriate authority, within which discharging or dumping is restricted in accordance with specified conditions. |
Industrial or mineral exploration/development prohibited | no_exploration_development | An area within which industrial or mineral exploration and development are prohibited. |
Industrial or mineral exploration/development restricted | restricted_exploration_development | A specified area designated by an appropriate authority, within which industrial or mineral exploration and development is restricted in accordance with certain specified conditions. |
Drilling prohibited | no_drilling | An area within which excavating a hole on the sea-bottom with a drill is prohibited. |
Drilling restricted | restricted_drilling | A specified area designated by an appropriate authority, within which excavating a hole on the sea-bottom with a drill is restricted in accordance with certain specified conditions. |
Removal of historical artifacts prohibited | no_historical_artifacts_removal | An area within which the removal of historical artifacts is prohibited. |
Cargo transhipment (lightering) prohibited | no_lightering | An area in which cargo transhipment (lightering) is prohibited. |
Dragging prohibited | no_dragging | An area in which the dragging of anything along the bottom, e.g. bottom trawling, is prohibited. |
Stopping prohibited | no_stopping | An area in which a vessel is prohibited from stopping. |
Landing prohibited | no_landing | An area in which landing is prohibited. |
Speed restricted | restricted_speed | An area within which speed is restricted. |
Overtaking prohibited | no_overtaking | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which overtaking is generally prohibited |
Overtaking of convoys by convoys prohibited | no_convoy_overtaking | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which overtaking between convoys prohibited. |
Passing or overtaking prohibited | no_passing_overtaking | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which passing or overtaking is generally prohibited. |
Berthing prohibited | no_berthing | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which vessels, assemblies of floating material or floating establishments may not berth. |
Berthing restricted | restricted_berthing | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which berthing is restricted. |
Making fast prohibited | no_making_fast | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which vessels, assemblies of floating material or floating establishments may not make fast to the bank. |
Making fast restricted | restricted_making_fast | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which making fast to the bank is restricted. |
Turning prohibited | no_turning | A specified area designated by appropriate authority, within which all turning is generally prohibited. |
Restricted fairway depth | restricted_fairway_depth | An area within which the fairway depth is restricted. |
