Opinion
Don't know if "rink" or "ice rink" is best because my mother's tongue isn't english, sorry! Freebourg 23:00, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- ice_rink: while rink is almost universally used for skating, that could also be roller skating Davidearl 17:45, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
I think that you'll need a way of indicating outdoor/winter only rinks, as these will likely have a dual purpose during the warmner sessions. --Mungewell 19:56, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
IMO it should be sport=ice_skating or something like leisure=ice_rink, because a rink is a sport location, not a sport. An additional tag to distinguish between natural and artificial ice rinks would also be useful. In a reaction to Mungewell: all ice rinks around here are winter only, but summer usage can be quite different (roller skating, farmland...), thus indicating summer usage would be useful too. --Steven te Brinke 20:07, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with Steven. The tag sport=* is in the "category" Non Physical on map features. Physical things related to sports, like tracks and sports stadiums, are all grouped under leisure=*. --Cartinus 23:31, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Actually you're right. I did change it to leisure=*. So, please revote.
We'll decide what should be use to tag the "building" (the artificial thing in a stadium where ice hockey can be played). I think tagging lakes like "skating=yes" is useless, because it is true as soon as ice is "growing", and it depends on so many parameters that we mustn't do such things. --Freebourg 19:54, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
I feel more for leisure=sports_centre sport=ice_skating, or leisure=stadium sport=ice_skating, or leisure=pitch sport=ice_skating. depending whether its a stadium or just a hall or (seasonal) outdoor rink. --Skratz 17:53, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- If I look up sports centre on Wikipedia it is not only a building, but a complex including outdoor facilities. How would you tag a typical 400 meter oval outdoor ice rink? It's not a stadium (no substantial tiered seating) and you can't call that a pitch. --Cartinus 03:56, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

- I approve this proposal. I think however that we need a better explication on summer/winter use for this. See Talk Page --Extremecarver 17:34, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

- I approve this proposal. -- Propose for summer/winter using: open=winter/summer S.A.L. 16:24, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
- I oppose this proposal. ice_rink does not specify whether its a building, stadium or outdoor pitch. There are already tags that do exactly that. --Skratz 17:53, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
