Rationale
A lot of small streams and streams in deserts (sometimes called arroyos) do not have a permanent flow. Wikipedia (DE: Wadi)

Rendering
Proposed rendering for intermittent streams: a line of alternating dots and dashes, like what is used by the USGS (US Geological Survey)
- If using a dashed line, the renderer should be sure to differentiate from tunnels, especially since portions of an intermittent stream can be tunneled.
