Is there a need for this tag?

One benefit would be simplifying a different rendering for golf=path versus highway=footway in golf courses. However, a map renderer could also choose to select all highway=footway within the boundaries of a golf course area and render these differently, without using a new tag.

Another suggested use case is to tag paths in golf courses without having them be rendered or considered by most routing applications. However, a tag such as access=private is sufficient to show if a golf path is not accessible to the general public on a private course. --Jeisenbe (talk) 13:08, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
