Proposal talk:Public transport=demand transit
Endorsement
Mostly for the concept than for the exact current format, but this should really be talked about and a system constructed. My province has/will have a lot of these.. even just being able to place stops without being unsure about what to tag would be nice. But most will likely need areas.
One big barrier will be the sheer diversity. These paratransit systems (or on-demand, flex, taxibus, microtransit, community transit and a million other terms) vary from following a route back and forth while picking people up and dropping them off as they request to being basically roaming, van-sized taxis with no fixed route or schedule at all. There's ones for only disabled people, there's ones that accept but aren't exclusive, there's subsidized commercial taxis and fully government-owned organizations. I'm sure people can sort it out somehow but it's going to be hard.
Tags describing service on "stop"
I don't think it makes sense to have opening_hours=*, internet_access=*, bicycle_parking=* and wheelchair=* on the "stop" the way you have descibed them it becomes clear that they describe the amenities on the vehicle or when it operates. I understand this might be since you don't want an unnecesarry relation but describing the service on the stop will just get confusing and hard to update. I also believe that the GTFS-flex and NeTEx Standards separate the two concepts. Brickblock1 (talk)
In a on demand transit situation there is no "stop" the services are provided in more of a Curb-to-Curb style operation so there would not be nodes that function as "stops" be tagged as a . Thus the tags associated with that area need to cover the hours of operation for the on-demand transit services which can be different than fixed route operations in the same area. These vehicles can host mobile Wifi, they may have a bike rake on the vehicle or a storage area inside to allow bikes to also be brought, our area has this. They also need to be clear about their support of wheelchair access. These would describe the On-Demand services without being locked to a node or "stop" as every road in the area could be considered a stop. The reference to GTFS-Flex is encouraging because it means that more and more Public Transit groups are blending fixed route and on demand transit area style of service enough so they are putting this in their publication standards for app and service integration which can make it easier to migrate into OSM as there are tools specifically designed to port GTFS over into OSM and visa-versa. I don't think that there is no need to tag platform or stop, that depends on specific situation. That some of the service can only apply to the "designed platform" in the area, such as a bus service in Shanghai Lingang and downtown of Shaoxiang, and some of the can provide no "stop" the service as "小蓝巴" in Taizhou. I think this two situation should be considered.I will try to tag the former one as an example that means the area should place an empty role and the platfrom also be as role of platfrom and added ahead.Herman Lee Zh (talk) 14:32, 16 February 2025 (UTC)

Herman Lee Zh in your example would this be ‘on demand’ but the locations of drop off or pickup is not curb-to-curb but location-to-location within an ‘on demand’ zone? JPinAR (talk) 15:30, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
Yes, the passagers only can drop and pickup in these point. Since that in this area, for safty, the bus can only parking by the bus stop. PS: Passagers can only order this bus via mini-programme in WeChat APP. It seems that there is no key for mini-programme this and "website=*" can be not proper for this.Herman Lee Zh (talk) 15:51, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
And I left more information here -> How to tag this kind of cruising bus where a user point me this proposal page.Herman Lee Zh (talk) 15:55, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
@JPinAR Can I put this example on the proposal main page and simply fix it? Herman Lee Zh (talk) 19:33, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
