Proposal
nudism=yes/no/customary/permissive/obligatory indicates if a relevant object such as a beach, resort, campsite provides the possibility of nudism.
Rationale
There are many places like beaches and hotels and many activities like hiking in which nudism is permitted, customary or even obligatory (for example official nudist beaches in Spain[1]).
Although this old proposal has never been voted, a considerable number of places are already tagged with the tag and out of known alternative tags it appears to be the most frequently used tag currently in use:
Common is also naturism
Besides these tags there are also many occurrences of various tags derived from the common German acronym FKK
taginfo FKK in the database.
Tagging
Add key "nudism" with one of the values defined bellow to a beach, coast (or lake shores), resort, campsite or other objects that may be relevant.
Note that nudism is not top-less practice. For top-less practice, please create another tag. For sexually oriented outdoor activities and swinger clubs use different tags.
Nudism | ||
---|---|---|
value | legal status | description |
yes | allowed | allowed and generally expected |
obligatory | obligatory | required by official designation or owner |
no | no | prohibited or asking for trouble |
customary | not important,
unknown |
prevalent, largely expected |
permissive | not unusual, wilderness areas |
- it appears that the value "designated" which is frequently used is largely synonymous to "yes", should it be defined that way?
Applies to
- leisure=beach_resort
- tourism=camp_site
- tourism=hotel
- natural=beach
- natural=water
- natural=spring
- sport=swimming

- I approve this proposal.. It provides additional info about zones (mainly beaches but there are centers). It could be useful for tourists in general.--Xan (talk) 13:20, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

- I approve this proposal. I vote yes even if this is a partial approach and something more general on clothing restrictions could maybe have been introduced instead, but there seems to be a majority wanting to go this way, and extending the proposal to a more general approach would have delayed this probably a lot.--Dieterdreist (talk) 14:25, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Blacks Beach in San Diego is "the nude beach", and every other beach in the city is assumed to be nudism=no. it is the designated spot for nudism.
- In that cas, I put "nude=mandatory" in Blacks Beach and "nude=no" in other places --Xan (talk) 07:39, 3 September 2014 (UTC) (sorry for replying here)
- You probably wanted to write "obligatory" but I do not think thats the status of Black beach San Diego. No idea about the legal status of it but I think it would be better described with nudism=customary or permissive. As of the use of nudism=no, it won't be bad to have some implicit rules. - Yes sorry. I want to write "obligatory". Respect to the second topic. I think users should know the context for tagging it. In OSM, the decission to put the value of one tag is from users. I see like parking=delivery, parking=designed, ... users living around the parking knows the legal situation of the parking and so tag properly.... this is my view. If you want to continue this discussion, I think the best is to write in discussion page. Thanks. --Xan (talk) 07:52, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
