State of the Map Europe 2024/volunteers

Call to action SotM2024 EU Poland

The most important asset of OpenStreetMap is the international community. Without community participation, the project would never survive. That's why I'm asking the editing community for support in organizing State of the Map 2024 Europe in Lodz, Poland.

Roles

Event photographer (location: Łódź; time: during the event)

The person responsible for creating photographic documentation during the conference.

Media (location: remotely and in Łódź; time: during the event)

Volunteers will be responsible for support involving the presence of the conference in the public media. Publication and contacts with media outlets willing to publish information about the event.

Technical Support (location: Łódź; time: before, during and after the event)

Preparation packages and badges for participants. Help with transportation and placing banners, conference desks, help with placing and organizing sponsors booths

Guest Services Desk (location: Łódź; time: during the event)

Information desk and support during the registration of participants and the duration of the conference. Checking tickets at the entrance of the venue

Session Host (location: Łódź; time: during the event)

Session hosts announce the speakers before the talks and lead the Questions & Answers (Q&A) sessions after the talks. Session hosts read the speaker's bio and talk description and say 2-3 sentences about before the talk starts. During the talk the session hosts observes the questions section. After the talk the session hosts goes through the questions with the speaker.

IT Support (location: Łódź; time: during the event)

Helping with technical issues in conference rooms: connecting computers to projectors, checking audio systems, room lighting, furniture rearrangement if needed etc.

Joker (location: Łódź; time: during the event)

People responsible for answering the calls for emergency situations: injuries and other health issues, lost & found personal items, help for people "lost" in the city etc. Also people who will take over tasks in each department in emergency situations. Need to be multitasking and not afraid of challenges

Video Support (location: Łódź; time: during the event)

People responsible for recording videos during sessions.
