TIGER 2009

Although the new TIGER 2009 data is out, it is unlikely that the data will be imported on a large scale into OSM. There has been some discussion of importing parts of it like its addressing data (which the original TIGER import did not cover).

Limited imports are possible in areas that are virtually untouched since the original import, but have substantially better coverage in the 2009 set as compared to the previously imported 2005 set. If you know of such an area, please discuss it on talk-us@openstreetmap.org.

  • Here are some of the most common abbreviations. The OSM file can be opened in any text editor, and you can do a find and replace to make the changes. Maybe there is a script somewhere that can do a find and replace automatically.
