The barrier examples seem very British to me (with the exception of the Norwegian "Sporsluse"). Roaming in Germany, today I found a service road blocked by some hexagonal flower pots. That is an easy and yet friendly looking way to block a road. Is it legitimate to create a barrier value "flower pot"?

  • It might be better to consider what the more generic class might be described as. Not sure myself at this point. According to barrier=fence, your suggested solution is stated as the most popular based on usage. --Ceyockey 14:29, 22 October 2011 (BST)

I found some barriers, made a photo and did not find a name for them. Some of them already existed. Finding a photo for a given name is not complicated - finding a name for a given Photo is. --tmeller 20:15, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I found this page because I was trying to work out how to tag Jersey barriers (Concrete barriers) - https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:barrier%3Djersey_barrier Could they be added to the list on this page too please? Also what we call Rope Barriers, they're everywhere along the freeways here in Australia. Turns out, they're tagged as "cable barriers" - https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:barrier%3Dcable_barrier --TechnicallyNotDeaf (talk) 00:40, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

Jersey barriers (they may be also plastic ones filled with sand/water!) added in https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Template:Barrier_examples&diff=2265035&oldid=2252069 - feel free to edit it! @TechnicallyNotDeaf: Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 18:00, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
