Talk:Bruce Trail
--acrosscanadatrails 23:15, 12 January 2009 (UTC) (I personally) would like this trail to become part of the Trans Canada Trail, (but that's just me). Anyway, it would be great to get some screen shots of the maps where the trail is mapped. How is this being tagged? ... the route follows roads in some sections, is this a relation route? There are specific tags to show trail markers. I have a POI file which shows the locations of each trail segment. .. but not sure how useful this would be. Ideally, I would like to see the trail mapped out as 1 long continuous line... but I think mapping it as a relation would be better. Thanks
adding a map link to each segment
I think it would make sense to be adding a map link to each section, so that everyone can see how much of it is done.
As I'm sure everyone knows, A LOT of data will be imported this year, where most of it can be found on the Ibycus Topo (as it is derived from the same place.) Using that map, plus and overlay of the local OSM map area, gives users a great start on what there is to map.
Trail data for the Bruce Trail is available, HOWEVER the quality of the mapping is (most likely) VERY poor, and needs more details. This is where tracing over GPS tracks is VERY helpful.
For duplicate map features that (no doubt) will happen, preference is ALWAYS given as a default to the OSM map, unless consent from the original mapper is given to replace the data. Overlays of the (to be imported) data are available on request. (The map features (everything EXCEPT roads) are still in BETA phase, so more than likely will change.
