Talk:Editor usage stats
Number of edits by user
Is it coincidence that Rapid and Street Complete have the same number of users for 2023, or is that an error in the data? --Edoardo Neerhut (talk) 23:33, 13 Dec 2023 (UTC)
Mapping created_by -> editor
I cannot find any information on how "created_by" is mapped to the "editor" field used in the result tables. Probably this boils down to a list of regular expressions along with the resulting editor name. Are these documented somewhere, if not can you please make them publicly available? Thanks! Mmd (talk) 10:33, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
- Since now the table is created by an open-source script, the mapping is public and can be improved by anyone. --Zverik (talk) 20:40, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
Meaning of "by number of edits"
It is mentioned that it is not changeset count. Is it number of edited/deleted/created objects in all changesets created by a given editor? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 13:17, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, it is a number of objects, reported in the changes_count of a changeset metadata. See for example: https://www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/changeset/79474061 --Zverik (talk) 07:04, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
Reading this page on a cell phone
First right up at the top you need to say this is the 2023.xx revision. Then next you need to have some real brief tables that fit on a cell phone. Then you can go on with the long explanations. And then finally at the very bottom you can have your original tables. Jidanni (talk) 13:25, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
Put the newest stuff on the left of the tables
Because on narrow devices we don't want to have to scroll all the way to the right just to see this year's information. Therefore if this year was right next to the name of the editor. We can see what we want right away. So have this year's on the left then as you go rightwards get older and older. Yes I guess it doesn't match the usual graph approach but imagine in 100 years you got to scroll all the way to the right to see what.. Jidanni (talk) 13:28, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
Another possibility is repeating the name of the editor in the very right most column.
Otherwise by the time anybody scrolls all the way to the right they already forgot which row is which!!
- I agree these tables need to be better. I was looking into making them properly scrollable, with sticky headers. This might be as simple as copying this template into OSM wiki. Somebody needs to try :) --Zverik (talk) 14:02, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
