Adding an App to the Table
The data in this table is gathered from other wiki pages. If you try to edit the table itself, it will not retain the data.
I've added a simple step by step guide for adding a new app to the table. Follow this link: User:TTTBot and scroll down to How to add a new item to the table.
SW to be added
Please add to the tables:
--accurimbono 13:11, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- To add stuff to this table the first step is to create a wiki page for the app: directu. Doesn't need to have much information -- Harry Wood 18:01, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Accessibility
For other mobile devices there is already a table / column about accessibility (for blind users). This shall be added here, because especially the iphone ist accessible with the free screenreader voiceover. --Lulu-Ann 16:04, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
What year?
Regarding:
- Special small screen stylesheets were deployed 23rd Oct.
What year? I couldn't immediately find it in the revision list. --Mortense 19:27, 9 July 2012 (BST)
Dead Apps
There are several apps in the list which have not been updated or maintained in 2+ years. How about adding a field that says they're no longer in active development or have them moved from the tables to a separate table ?
- Apps with no new version in the last two years currently get a red background for the "version" column. You can also sort by release date of the latest version. It would be possible to "dead" apps from the table entirely, but I would not rely on the date values for that - often they are just not updated reliably. We would need to introduce a status=inactive tag (or something similar) for the software description page to reliably determine whether an app is considered "dead" by the wiki editors. --Tordanik 14:25, 16 August 2012 (BST)
Blocked Apps + Old(Removed) Apps are listed
The list in this article needs an update. Some apps are not only old - they not available any more at the App Store (e.g. oMaps). These should be removed from the list. Other apps are blocked by OpenStreetMap because of heavy server usage. These should also be removed from the list or they should clearly be marked as "using is discouraged" or something similar.
Currently, the information given at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Blocked_applications is at discordance to the info given in the app list on this page.
