Does JOSM render the relations? I added this turn restriction but it doesn't show up with a "Right turn only" sign. Is this because it's new in the database and the cached tile should expire first? Or is it because there is something missing in the relation? The caching is of course needed to get some decent performance, but the lack of direct feedback does mean that the user has to know (s)he's doing the right thing.

If JOSM doesn't render relations, it might be a good thing to include that fact in the documentation, otherwise newbies like me will keep wondering whether they're doing something wrong. --Sybren 11:08, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

You need to add the required type=restriction tag to your relation. This page forgets to mention this tag, which is simply wrong. I'll fix that.

(edit: JOSM renders everything instantly, so there is no need to wait for tiles or even upload before you can see it.) --Tordanik 11:48, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

from/to nodes or ways

this article shows use of nodes to form turn restrictions but Relation:restriction uses ways. which one is correct ? --didoa 20:17, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

All current software obeying turn restrictions expects from and to to be ways, as far as their documentation goes. via can be and mostly is a node, most programs don't yet even handle via ways correctly. Alv 20:39, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

This article is wrong, plain and simple. There were suggestions for a node based restriction relation (called xrestriction), but this article explicitly claims to use a relation as documented on Relation:restriction, which it doesn't. --Tordanik 11:32, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
