Overcomplicated for most cases?
Why not front/rear/middle + number of cars?

- Hello again, we can update the wiki page, were you thinking of something like this: access:carriages=front3 or access:carriages=front;3? --Kylenz 08:03, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
Misuse
access=* is legal accessibility, not physically shorter platform. This can be interpreted as whether passengers are allowed to board certain cars. Such arrangement may be found on some trains.

- 👍 do you have a suggestion for a better key? Something like carriages=middle2? --Kylenz 08:03, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- For reference, I noticed railway:track_capacity_cars=* is listed on OpenRailwayMap/Tagging#Tracks for the railway=rail signal block length somehow. Looks ugly, but shows there needs to be more coordination to use it in general for both tracks and stops.
—— Kovposch (talk) 10:14, 14 February 2024 (UTC)- Thanks for linking to that tag. I had a look and discovered the undocumented tag railway:platform_length=*. 100% of uses are from an Austrian import. The default units are metres, maybe it would be valid to use
cars
orcarriages
as a unit? - For example, railway:platform_length=4 carriages + railway:train_platform_alignment=middle ??
