A log cabin/museum has a 29 star American flag, representing the year 1847. How to tag? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jidanni (talkcontribs) 05:03, 21 November 2022‎ (UTC)

@Jidanni: Glad you asked! If it's flying on a permanently fixed flagpole (the kind that would be eligible for mapping), then here's an example you can follow. Note how it's tagged with flag:wikidata=Q65037029 (29-star flag of the United States) instead of the usual flag:wikidata=Q42537 (flag of the United States). – Minh Nguyễn 💬 07:38, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

Warning Signal

I know of flags that are raised in emergency/warning situations. Do not enter the river bed area (rapid rise forcast), do not go on the pier (waves/stormy weather), do not enter or use footpath (military practice happening). The description for flag:type=signal doesn't match, as that is marking a location and not a change of situation to be prepared for. An emergency flag also shouldn't be used for navigation, as it may not be raised at the time (although the flagpole would be there).

Can I propose flag:type=warning for flags that signal a warning/caution is in place? Or would emergency=flag be appropriate to group it with other equipment? It could be used with colour=* and description=*. LastGrape/Gregory 11:15, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
