Several materials
Can someone clarify best practice to describe something made out of a non-uniform material? For example an artwork of a spade with a wooden handle and metal tip; is material=wood;metal the best way? --Christoffre (talk) 16:00, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Bricks vs brick
Why is material=brick preferred while surface=bricks is preferred? --Aenet (talk) 00:32, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- This is not a preference. It's simply how these tags are used:
- material=brick:
- material=bricks:
- surface=brick:
- surface=bricks:
- Material=brick is prefered over material=bricks because the latter is used only 99 times. Surface=brick and surface=bricks are used just as often. There is a page Tag:surface=bricks but not for Tag:surface=brick, because one user decided to move a page. But as you can see in the graph, both tags are used in equally, with very little difference, so both are correct. maro21 16:37, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
