Shouldn't Iron Ore be tagged as just iron?

As a matter of consistency, most other materials on the list are tagged with the actual material being extracted from the mined ore, not the natural ore from which it is extracted. For example, a source of natural acanthite is tagged as a silver mine, not an acanthite mine. This same principle should be applied to mines holding the ores from which iron and Aluminum are extracted, even if the facilities that separate the metal from the rock is located far off site.

I believe the only cases where the resource tag for a mine should describe the ore rather than the embedded valuable resource are if this is a combination ore holding multiple minerals, or to distinguish highly different kinds of ore for the same ultimate commodity.

Oh, and of cause do remember that this tag is not just for mines, but also for other places to obtain natural resources, such as crude oil. Jbohmdk 02:52, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Lack of resource=sand. Why sand is only as part of construction aggregate?

Bitcoin Mining

Hi all,

I would like to correctly tag Bitcoin 'mining' at large industrial locations that perform this function.

This is an example I found of a miner in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada:

I don't like the use of 'resource=cryptocurrency' as it's not specific and all other 'cryptos' are not commodities.

'resource=XBT' or 'resource=bitcoin' seems better.

I personally prefer XBT to be consistent with how the currency tag works in accordance with the ISO codes.

Thoughts on what's most appropriate for Bitcoin mining?

resource=* is rather inapplicable. It is used for physical matter in landuse=quarry etc. I will use currency:*=*. Unfortunately payment:*=* is the common one.
Maybe *=data_center is technically correct. But not having focus on storage and transfer of data, together with telecom=* , makes it strange. I would check supercomputers and computation labs.
Could look into coin minting and banknote printing facilities, if anything special. Again the usual role of them being in payment:*=* is inconvenient. Suppose man_made=works + product=* still works on them.

Yes, *=datacenter is indeed more applicable.
