'types' of telescopes
A 'phase array' is a radio telescope. It uses radio waves! Warin61 (talk) 23:31, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- This is obviously caused by the dreaded *:type=* key suffix. It can be further sub-tagged. -- Kovposch (talk) 14:24, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
Not a telescope
Radar is not a telescope. Telescopes are passive devices, radar uses a pulse of power and detects the reflection of that wave. Warin61 (talk) 23:31, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- Note: Radar means "radio detection and ranging" only. There are both active and passive radars. -- Kovposch (talk) 14:22, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
telescope:type=solar
The telescope:type=solar got the icon for radio (seeway/310789518).
There are certainly more than the 3 standing in the taginfo today, but I do not know if github will make a change in this case.--geozeisig (talk) 06:42, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- Not easy. They do operate optically .. but they look different from either radio or optical telescopes. So might need a different symbol eventually. Not too worried by it. Warin61 (talk) 07:12, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
