This tag has not been used yet in the database. Proposed tags should be under https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/ such as https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Key:wood_available. But this key is not a good idea, because it is subjective: it is supposed to say if wood was in stock at the feature when the mapper last visited, but this might change all of the time. Such temporary states or conditions are not likely to be maintained by other mappers in Openstreetmap. --Jeisenbe (talk) 14:28, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

available <> provided

@Dafadllyn: you removed "distinction to wood_available unclear", so can you improve the doc and/or explain the diff between both ? and how does a mapper know whether the wood he sees is available or provided ? Marc marc (talk)

Hi Marc Marc! I added "See also: wood_provided=* - "whether wood is provided" (distinction to wood_available=* unclear)", but later removed the parenthesis. As i understand it, wood_provided=* should only be used, if it's clear that the firewood is provided by someone (e.g. because a sign says so or because you're a local who knows who provides the firewood). The benefit of the tag wood_available=* seems much less clear to me: how does it help me to know that there was firewood there once, but maybe not always? --Dafadllyn (talk) 20:23, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
