Looks like an unnecessary duplicate

The problem with subject:wikidata=* is that a feature could commemorate two things. For an example, say you have a WW2 memorial that depicts MacArthur. You would want to add the subject:wikidata to link to MacArthur's wikidata page, but the reason that memorial is there is to commemorate WW2, so should you set the wikidata page to WW2 instead?
Essentially, there can be a disconnect on what the feature is (i.e the "artwork" of the feature) and what it represents.
on trying to find an answer for this I found a wiki proposal page Proposal:Subject which had a list of different tags they suggest would fix this very issue, I chose memorial:subject:wikidata because it removed all ambiguity. Necessarycoot72 (talk) 22:16, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

Wouldn't this just be memorial:conflict=WW2 (and memorial:conflict:wikidata=*) + subject=MacArthur (and subject:wikidata=*)? --Ivanbranco (talk) 19:44, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

memorial:conflict=* isn't good. Its format is currently a mix of freeform proper nouns, and such memorial:conflict=WW2 abbreviations, with underscores. It only accepts some "conflicts" (includes protests and riots other than wars and killings?), not all events. It can't handle a specific battle or campaign/theater of a war, eg Liberation of Philippines for MacArthur.
While it isn't all clear yet, that proposal has much more potential. The most useful one now is artwork:subject=* allowing the content depicted in the art to be separated.
