Relations

I'm completely lost editing relations with Merkaator. Relation:route does not contain any information on this and the information available in the Merkaator documentation wasn't sufficient for me. Basically, I did not even find the display for relations. There is a drop-down box with items "undefined", "places of worship", ..., "generic relations", etc., but choosing "generic relations" there did not seem to help. Any information greatly appreciated. --Ukuester 11:30, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

HowTo added here (mostly so I can refer back to this myself) by Fbax (talk) 15:44, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

  • HowTo create a new relation
    • Select a node or way that will be in the relation (Use Ctrl key to select multiple elements).
    • From Menu; choose "Create", then "Relation".
    • Add tags for the relation
  • HowTo add additional elements (nodes, ways) to an existing relation:
    • Ensure the relation you want to update is listed in "Features" dock.
    • Select the node or way that will be added to the relation (Use Ctrl key to select multiple elements).
    • Right-click the relation in "Features" dock; click "Add to selection"
    • From Menu; Choose "Relation"; then "Add member".
  • HowTo remove elements (nodes, ways) from an existing relation:
    • Select the node or way that will be removed from relation (Use Ctrl key to select multiple elements).
    • Right-click the relation in "Features" dock; click "Add to selection"
    • From Menu; Choose "Relation"; then "Remove member".
  • HowTo Add one relation as a member into another relation:
    • Unknown! I've done before and know it is VERY counter-intuitive!
  • HowTo remove a one relation that is member in another relation:
    • In "Features" dock; right-click on the member and click "Add to selection"
    • In "Features" dock; click on parent relation
    • From Menu; Choose "Relation"; then "Remove member".

Menu command name?

Currently the article uses "Download from web". However in the Windows version of Mapnik (v 0.14) the menu command in the File file is named "Download".

Has the name changed in later versions of Mapnik or should "Download from web" to be changed to "Download" in the article?

"If your build has webkit support" - Yahoo imagery

In the documentation I read that if my build has webkit support then I can use yahoo imagery. This is what I want to do. I compiled 0.14 of Merkaartor, and somewhere it said I should compile some All.pro file. I didn't find any such file. Does anyone else have that file? I want yahoo imagery support in Merkaartor, if possible. I use a Debian Lenny based distribution(with mipsel processor(not x86 based) cpu architecture). logictheo 16:33, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Merge Areas

Is there a suggested method to merge two adjacent areas in Merkaartor?

Downloading relations

Perhaps a quick note on how to download the rest of a partial relation? It's not obvious if you don't have the Features dock open! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tms13 (talkcontribs) 08:59, 19 March 2010

Merkaartor not working anymore

I guess that due to API changes in OSM Merkaartor is not working anymore, no OpenStreetMap is shown. The API URL http://api.openstreetmap.org/ is working neither. --Francwalter (talk) 10:35, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
