Talk:OSM@home
It would be good if the page displayed a list of all the places with (new?) data downloaded, but no map uploaded. You could then have a script poll that, download and render, and re-upload, all in the background. I'd happily have my home machine participate in this. Gagravarr 10:31, 6 October 2006 (BST)
- The script downloads http://almien.co.uk/OSM/Places/?action=random - see the perl source code
- Ah, so it does. Still, might be good to have a list of all the new ones.
Before too many images are rendered would it be possible to fix the non linking OSM logo & attribution images in the top left? Dmgroom 11:47, 6 October 2006 (BST)
- Yes, will fix that. Plus it will need a custom osmarender, rather than using the default one from subversion
- I think, if you download the images to the same place as svg file gets created then I think the images will be linked correctly. 80n 19:21, 6 October 2006 (BST)
Ideas
It would probably be good to try to download the data first, before the osmarender stuff, to save it download that if there's nothing to render
It would be good if the script exited with a different return code if there was nothing to render. (That way you can have the script run up to 10 times if there's stuff to render, but stop as soon as there's no more)
Rendering
Looking at the latest map of Copenhagen, I see that the metro line I have tagged as railway=light_rail isn't rendered. Look at the X-centre of the image from 2/3rds down the image and down to the bottom - there are 4 stations (with one actually looking like it's off the map) with no apparent rail connection. The metro line in question is way #4054540. --KristianThy 22:16, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
