Dates and Wikimania

Since State of the Map is planned to take place in August, but no dates are set yet: on 11-13 August there will be also Wikimania (in Canada); since there are likely to be some people interested in both, it would be nice not to have a conflict between the two. - Laurentius (talk) 08:58, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

Probably there won't be any additional SOTM Japan this year, I think they'll organize their own meetings the same weekend, and will probably not need to repeat the same presentations. Note however that the conference allows reserving other "informal" meetings on the day just before the main conference, and it could locally be used for some projects in Japan that were not selected as sessions for the main conference (or they'll just attend in a location nearby, in the univeristy or elsewhere (probably not too far away and possibly not during the 3 days of the main conference if they have people needed in main SOTM but also needed for the local meetings, notably people of OSMJ that are already organizing the main conference and will be busy) if they already have usual places for local groups. — Verdy_p ^(talk) 14:45, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
