Video

Quality

Every year video transmission quality is the #1 criticized item of SotM conferences. So extra attention needs to be paid to assure top streaming rates outbound, etc.

Tickets

Even though higher bandwidth is needed. But so are lower prices. I.e., let's perhaps break with SotM tradition this year and offer free tickets to conference participants merely attending via remote video link from overseas etc.! Or perhaps no ticket needed at all. All in the spirit of "O as in Open." Yes, donations still welcome.

Typhoons

Contingency plans

Have plans to ensure the conference can proceed on schedule no matter even if a ground zero typhoon hit.

Backup power/Internet? Food catering? But what if government declares emergency and conference cannot legally proceed anyway due do insurance regulations also and the janitor must officially turn off the power and expel all the people and lock all the doors? Any handy military bunkers? :-)

Flexible schedule

Maybe build enough flexibility into the schedule to move things around a little when a typhoon is lurking on the horizon. (Easier with longer conferences though.)

Guest speakers

For e.g., opening ceremonies invite government officials and industry representatives, affirming official support for the OpenStreetMap concept. (At the 2018 Debian conference we had minister w:Audrey Tang give an hour presentation.
