"used by hunters to place themselves at an elevated height above the terrain" - so what is the purpose of "raised=yes/no - is it raised over terrain?"? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 10:58, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Yes, this is a little bit contradictory. I have added a sentence to raised=yes/no to explain it. Evidently some hunting stands are not elevated at all. Chrabros (talk) 07:46, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Grouse butts

Grouse butt

In the moorlands of Northern England, you often come across lines of grouse butts, ground-level hides made of drystone walling and grass for grouse shooting. Since they make excellent landmarks on wide hillslopes, they ought to be in the map. So far, I have tagged them man_made=grouse_butt (following others, see https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/718984920) but maybe it would make more sense to use amenity=hunting_stand + raised=no + hunting_stand=grouse_butt instead? --Kreuzschnabel (talk) 08:15, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

  • Given that hunting stand is defined as "An open or enclosed platform used by hunters to place themselves at an elevated height above the terrain. " I think that it would be a poor idea Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 21:08, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

Height definition

Is height=* floor or roof height? Yeastmonster (talk) 09:08, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
