How to map a swing gate with passage?

swing gate with passage

Can you please help me to find and document the right tags. The gates are used on dykes to prevent any motor vehicles from using the tracks. Cycling and walking is allowed and often there are cycling routes. The gate will only be opened by dyke authorities for maintenance or (maybe?) sometimes agricultural purposes by farmers.

My main isssue is: How to map the maxwith for cyclists in closed position like on the picture?

- est_maxwidth=* doesn't make sense - you can't "estimate" a legal width restriction.
- access=no - I can't see any access restriction here, apart from the obvious width limit. This tag shouldn't be on the barrier.
- The tag maxwidth:physical=* is used for the general, actual width limit due to physical constraints. It should reflect the limit that applies to the regular user.
- If a certain, special group of users has different restrictions, they can be added with the usual syntax, either by "maxwidth:physical:TRANSPORTATION_MODE = none" or "maxwidth:physical:conditional = none @ CONDITION". Here maxwidth:physical:conditional=none @ private seems appropriate. --Mueschel (talk) 09:23, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
There are signs from waterway authorities that verbid any traffic and any use of the dyke ways except walking and cycling.
On the other hand there is a national cycling route. So cycling is the most common use.
"est" because in this case it is estimated. If i have exact values i will not use "estimated" of course.

If there are access signs on the road, the access tags belong to the highway, but not on the barrier.
"ext_maxwidth" is not a defined tag, and not one that any software would look for. Better add a conservative estimate in the regular "maxwidth:physical" tag and add an additional source:maxwidth:physical=estimation.

Youre right, the source tag for estimation maybe a more conform way.
Ahh i think i found what i was looking for. My case is already there. Its "open=*"
