Talk:Tag:cemetery=wood
Needs a proposal
Given that cemetery=wood already has 6 times as much usage as cemetery=burial_forest I think you should: a) discuss it for instance on the community site or the tagging mailing list; and b) avoid deprecating another tag without discussion. I would suggest moving this page to the proposal format until you have done a). SK53 (talk) 09:20, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
A side note: "burial" is somewhat redundant for a cemetery (which is probably why a single word was chosen for the the alternative). SK53 (talk) 09:20, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- It is not a proposal, it is documentation for current usage. cemetery=burial_forest is more clear for me, but cemetery=wood isn't deprecated. You can drop "Possible synonyms" section, if you want. Something B (talk) 09:28, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
Clarify
It is not intended to be used for overgrown cemeteries, right? What about say mass graves in forests? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 09:31, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- This tag intended only for eco-friendly cemeteries, aka "memorial park", not for mass graves or very old, wooden but conventional cemeteries.
- Is it maybe possible to find more narrow value? This is not bad, but seems possible to be misinterpreted Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 12:26, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
Nonforest natural burial
"A natural burial grave sites." links to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_burial which is defined as "interment of the body of a dead person in the soil in a manner that does not inhibit decomposition but allows the body to be naturally recycled. It is an alternative to other contemporary Western burial methods and funerary customs. "
Note that Wikipedia definition does not require forest at all
Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 12:27, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- Of course, "natural burial" isn't limited to the forests at all, but this tag abouts kind of cemeteries. I simply document the current usage. Something B (talk) 12:32, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- I fixed the page, link to Wikipedia moved to the "See also" section as pure informative. Something B (talk) 12:39, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
