Talk:Tag:landuse=salt pond
Displaying in OSM
Hi,
landuse=salt_pond is not displayed in OSM maps? Why? Is there any official color for that? What about a clear blue with yellow dots (it represent watter with salt)?
Thanks, Xan.
What about this proposal?
It is highly specific
It is extremely specific, IMHO tagging it as landuse=industrial, industrial=salt_pond would be more reasonable and make job of data consumers easier Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 13:38, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
Tag using water=* ?
Should not this be obsoleted just like landuse=pond was? RicoZ (talk) 14:19, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Salt Water - not just sea?
There are some 'salt ponds' (used to produce salt) that are not feed from sea water. Tag needs to be less specific. See https://www.worldspice.com/spices/murray-river-flake-salt Warin61 (talk) 04:29, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- I agree. In Portugal, there's a saltern which uses subterranean water some 30 miles from the sea, and there are more examples all over the world. I removed the "sea water" mention from the English and Portuguese wikis to "salt water". --AntMadeira (talk) 00:43, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
Sodium Chloride or all salts?
Should there be a specific mention of non-table salt salts on the page saying whether this tag covers those cases as well? Or was that not considered in the original proposal? I like this tag over a natural=water + water=basin + basin=evaporation scheme, since most of these ponds are water-free the majority of the time, and they certainly aren't blue, but I'm not sure if it actually describes what I want it to describe.
