Why not use the proper term?
This looks like it is describing trees which are Marcescent: dead leaves don't fall immediately. Typical examples in European parkland include Oak hybrids between Cork and Turkey Oak. The Pyrenean Oak forms dominant stands of woodland in the Iberian peninsula and is usually marcescent. Young oak and beech saplings also show this behaviour, and it is a highly desirable feature of beech & hornbeam hedges.. Although the term may be unfamiliar it is much more precise and should be preferred where it is applicable. SK53 (talk) 19:26, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
