Distinction between gallery and museum

tourism=museum - Other types of museums such as science / history museums. Note that art galleries very often have the word "museum" in the name. Despite this, if they are primarily displaying art, they should probably take the tag tourism=gallery. The tourism=museum tag has been documented since very early in the project's history, while this tourism=gallery was not documented until surprisingly recently. As such, many earlier-mapped tourism=museum institutions could now be reclassified as tourism=gallery, but this changeover process may happen slowly. --Geozeisig 27 June 2018

The notice to use tourism=gallery wasn't me, but the editor bevor. I just have added "could". I wonder also about equalization of museum and gallery. --Chris2map (talk) 20:25, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
