Talk:Tag:shop=variety store
Would think shop=discount_store would best differentiate between "shops with lots of variety" and "shops with cheap goods" which may not be the same. E.g. a bodega would be a shop with variety, but not necessarily all cheap.
Also, I suggest a key, say fixed_price=*, which could indicate the standard price of the objects. E.g. for a 100yen store it would be 100 yen, dollar store 1 dollar, and so forth. (And those odd cases where a 100 yen store is located in the US and it becomes a $1.50 store...) - KTyler 01:14, 9 June 2012 (BST)
Liquidation stores?
Do stores known as liquidators or liquidation centers fall under this tag? I have seen many of these in Los Angeles, not so sure about other regions. They typically sell products at discounted prices, especially at or under wholesale prices or bulk prices. These range from large stores, nearly as big as supermarkets, to small (like 100 square meter) shops. They're also vary in variety (which is where the tag "variety store" can be problematic) as some liquidation shops sell specific products such as furniture or electronics exclusively, others are more varied, selling electronics, furniture, appliances, clothes etc.--AragonChristopherR17z (talk) 08:22, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
- AragonChristopherR17z=* if shop sells exclusively furniture then shop=furniture is the most fitting. Is it maybe qualifying for second_hand=yes / second_hand=only / shop=second_hand ? If they sell wild variety of cheap items then it would fit shop=variety_store (at least in my opinion). BTW, https://community.openstreetmap.org/ may be better place if you want wider feedback on tagging ideas Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 17:33, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
