Merging proposal

It has been proposed that this page or section be merged with Tag:sport=equestrian. I agree that horse racing is a kind of equestrian sport. But it has its own tag value that has already been used quite a lot and the editors link to the corresponding wiki pages. Horse racing is also usually practised at other places than the other equestrian sports. What would be the advantage of merging it with sport=equestrian and how should that be done? Nowbody seeme to have an idea why and how this page should be merged with Tag:sport=equestrian. From wikipedia:fr:Sport_équestre: "Les sports équestres regroupent des disciplines équestres diverses et variées dont la finalité première n'est pas de remporter une course, à la différence des courses hippiques." which is translated by Google translator: "Equestrian sports consist of diverse and varied equestrian disciplines whose primary purpose is not to win a race, unlike horse racing.".
