Revert page to meaning of Feb 2024

@Nzau, Davileci, Kjon, Goodidea, and Jeffrey Yasskin: I wonder about the last edits that changed the explanation and meaning to "composter". As far as I see the tag is used with waste bins, disposal containers and recycling features just to specify the type of waste. It doesn't describe composters. However, it can be used with composters. Therefore I suggest to revert the page content to version of Febr. 10th 2024. --Chris2map (talk) 19:28, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Chris2map:, the previous page was too vague and imprecise. It even led to errors and confusion. Some contributors added waste=organic with amenity=recycling. Normally this should only be combined with amenity=waste_basket or amenity=waste_disposal. https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1QNs And it wasn't clear whether this could also be used for shared composters (very different from voluntary drop-off points). That's why I've tried to clarify things and add a reference to shared composters.

I look forward to discussing this with you, Enzo --- Translated with Deepl

Hi! I apologize. I mixed up the last versions and didn't realize your latest version, but looked at the version before that was only about composter. In the last version you named the trash cans again. I would only choose a different picture for the image in the description box, to show only a waste bin for organic waste. – So I no longer suggest reverting the content. In my opinion, the description is OK as it is now, but since it is still very brief, it could of course be described in more detail. --Chris2map (talk) 09:19, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback. But unfortunately I'm really not a fan of the current photo for the description. It's confusing with 'recycling:food_waste=yes' but this value can't be used with 'amenity=waste_basket' or 'amenity=waste_disposal'... If you have another one to suggest, that would be great ^^. --Nzau (talk) 19:24, 20 September 2024 (UTC) --- Translated with Deepl
I think the value 'organic' doesn't distinguish if it is food or green waste. It covers both. Therefore I can not quite understand the confusion issue with 'recycling:food_waste=yes'.
I checked used combinations with the tag 'waste=organic':
214 times with 'amenity=waste_basket'
1066 times with 'amenity=waste_disposal'
What does a common (international) organic waste disposal, tagged with this tag, look like?
As I'm writing, I'm realizing that the tag doesn't actually describe the container, but rather the waste itself. That means we should look for an illustration of organic waste!? --Chris2map (talk) 21:01, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
