waterway=* is inappropriate

This tag seems to be inappropriate. Key:waterway is a land feature for rivers and similar flowing water, and makes no sense to apply to an oil field. I suggest that the existing Key:subsea be extended to include oilfields and gas fields instead. 09:54, 31 January 2016‎ Indigomc

Verifiability

How can a mapper confirm the existance, extent and name of an offshore field in practice? I can imagine importing these objects from an official corporate or government database, but otherwise I don't see how it's possible to confirm whether or not an offshore oil/gas field is in production or exploration, or to define it's boundaries. See Verifiability - feature in the Openstreetmap database need to something that an individual mapper can confirm to be correct or incorrect when visiting a location in person, without relying only on official sources. --Jeisenbe (talk) 00:06, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
