Main API as source for vector tiles
I would suggest to remove following sentence: "The OpenStreetMap API can also be used as an ad-hoc vector tile source for OSM XML data by creating appropriate bounding box queries; the iD editor uses this mechanism to access OSM source data." We should lead people to bad ideas. --Andi 20:09, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- I addressed this with Special:Diff/2414258. --Push-f (talk) 08:44, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
What about mapbox?
They have blogged mapbox vector tiles in may 2013 which should have been progressing since. There seem to be some referenced projects:
- mapbox studio - tilemill2 replacement, display the final result (uses node.js)
- "You are not locked into using Studio with Mapbox – you can export vector tiles from any source project as a standard MBTiles file and package any style project as a .tm2z package."
- tilelive vector - render mapnik vector tiles to raster
Isn't there a whole, continuous toolchain yet to provide mapboxless vector tiles? --grin ✎ 14:27, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
Adding Planetiler and tilemaker
Both similar software solutions should be included here ... but what is the ideal paragraph for them? Stephan75 (talk) 13:56, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
