Template:Banned user/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Banned user.
It contains usage information, categories and other content or metadata that is not part of the original template.

Usage

This template appears on a user page to indicate that the user has received a long-term ban from editing the wiki. When applying an indefinite ban, an administrator should replace the entire page contents with this template. Only use this template on a user page that existed at the time of the ban, and only in relation to users who were banned after due consideration, not as routine antispam or countervandalism.

This template adds the page to Category:Banned users and adds the __NOINDEX__ magic word to prevent search engines from indexing the page.

Parameters

|link =, |link2 =, |link3 =

The discussions and/or policies that justify the ban.

|time =

The ban's duration. |time = indef, |time = indefinite, or |time = indefinitely displays as "banned indefinitely"; other values subcategorize the page into Category:Users banned for a limited period.

|by =

The body that made the decision to ban the user, other than administrators acting at their own discretion.
